THE WOODS- Written and Illustrated by Chanae

Roar! Rumble! ‘That’s my stomach’, said Lilly to Sophia and Sam. ‘Where are we going?’ asked Sophia. ‘The woods’, replied Sam. They were going camping. It was time to go to bed when suddenly, a bear came to the campsite. Lilly started playing with the bear. Sam said, ‘Lilly you can’t play with bears because they are dangerous.’ The bear ran away and the kids went to bed!

THE SCARED GIRL- Written and Illustrated by Yusra

Lilly saw an ice-cream at the beach. She said, ‘I want that ice-cream! Can I get that ice-cream?’ ‘No you can’t. It’s too cold’, said her Mum. ‘If I don’t get an ice-cream, I want a necklace’, demanded Lilly. So her mum went to the shops to buy one.

‘I love that necklace because it’s sparkly. Now I want to go on a slide. Where is the water slide? I don’t see any’. ‘That’s because you are at the beach!’ ‘If we are at the beach, I need to go somewhere else. Can we go where there are waterslides?’ asked Lilly. ‘We will go if you don’t ask me too many times!’

‘Are we there?’ ‘Yes we are. Should we dive from the highest diving board?’ asked mum. Yusra replied, ‘I love swimming but let’s go home. I want to sleep’.

SOCCER- Written and Illustrated by Abdur-Rahman

One day, I woke up and became the best soccer player. I got a goal and then another goal. Then I became the goalie. I didn’t let anybody get a goal. I got a medal and other people took a picture with me.

When I walked home, I saw Ronaldo and Messi. They were at my house. I said, ‘do you have soccer cards? Can I have some?’ They agreed. ‘Who is a better player?’ I asked. ‘Let’s have a match to find out’.

When the match started, Ronaldo got a goal and another. Ronaldo won. ‘Here’s your medal!’

THE GIRL AND BOY- Written and Illustrated by Sumeya

‘Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!’ said Mike. ‘We are going to swim in our pool’. Their mum and dad were waiting for them. Rosie ran into the pool for the first time ever.

She opened her eyes. She couldn’t believe it. She was coughing.

Her brother, Mike jumped into the pool after her and started coughing too but he grabbed her and ran out. Mum and Dad came and started laughing.

THE DUNGEON OF DOOM- Written and Illustrated by Rayan

‘ROAR!’ said the dinosaur with a fierce voice. Rayan, Sam and Harun used a sling shot to hit the dinosaur with a giant rock. The dinosaur fell to the ground with a big impact. Then they found a path of darkness and headed there. Rayan, Sam and Harun liked adventures and action in their lives. They were all best friends.

The path was dark and spooky. As they were walking, they fell down a hole. It was a trap! From inside the hole, they saw three tunnels. They decided to walk through the middle tunnel which led to two dungeons- one with a sign saying ‘Terror Dungeon’ and the other reading ‘Cakes’. They went to the Cake Dungeon but it was actually the Dungeon of Torture and Terror. ‘The path tricked us. Oh man’, said Rayan.

So they searched the area for weapons. Sam said, ‘this is hopeless’ and Harun replied, ‘guys we have company’. Rayan shouted, ‘it’s an army of zombies and skeletons. If we don’t get out we are going to be skeletons!’ So Sam got weapons. Harun thought they were ready but Sam found some diamond armour, swords and bows. Rayan yelled, ‘we’re prepared for a battle! We have to work together to win this fight. Let’s stick together so we can survive. Wait guys… I see something.’

‘What is it?’ asked Sam and Harun. ‘It’s a person’. ‘Who are you?’ asked Sam, Harun and Rayan. He said, ‘my name is Survivor’. Harun asked, ‘why is your name Survivor?’ ‘Because I can survive for a long time’. ‘Why were you sneaking up on us?’ ‘I wanted to help but I thought you would hurt me.’ Rayan said ‘you can help but we have to work together. We have stuff for you.’ Survivor said, ‘thank you so much. Now let’s take on this army’.

When they went in to strike, they saw a king skeleton, zombie king and a skeleton general. When the boys were going for the kings, the army took Rayan. The boys went after them but they were too prepared.

So Harun and Sam snuck past them to get Rayan while Survivor distracted them. The boys found Rayan and they all ran away. They found a way to the cake dungeon but they got confused. ‘Is it the Cake Dungeon or the Terror Dungeon?’ asked Rayan. Harun answered, ‘it’s the Cake Dungeon’. So they went in and luckily Harun was right. They gathered and ate as much cake as they could.

They heard footsteps so they took a peek to see who it was. It was the army! Rayan said, ‘why don’t we take out the king because he’s the leader.’ Survivor was behind Rayan. Survivor was about to punch Rayan but Rayan had a feeling he was a traitor so he punched Survivor first. Then Harun, Sam and Rayan went for the kings. They worked together to take out the king. They thought of a plan. Sam, Harun and Rayan took the zombie king out and then they took out the other king and the army ran!

KING OF THE OCEAN- Written and Illustrated by Vinh

Swoosh! A killer whale swam through the freezing ocean, sensing a great white shark nearby. To protect its young, the whale struck! Flipping the shark over, the shark was doomed!

A boat was just passing by. They saw this battle so they sent a diver to film the fight. The mean old shark grabbed the whale’s neck to avoid being killed. The titanic battle was on TV. A whale expert was impressed because killer whales don’t often attack like that. Under the sea, blood was coming out of the whale’s throat! The shark was going to win.

Suddenly… WOOO! A pod of whales came. One whale turned the shark upside down and another whale ate up the shark’s tail. It was heaven for the shark! The whale fell to the seabed, another whale zoomed down to get him. They went up. The doctor whale said, ‘congratulations the whale is alive and the baby whales are fine’.

THE LOST GIRL- Written and Illustrated by Amaani

Splish! Splash! Splish! Splash! ‘Yay this is fun’, giggled Lilly, a little girl of only 6 years old.

Lilly was playing at the beach until a big wave washed her away. ‘ARGH! Help Me!’ she cried. ‘I’m floating in between the waves. Please, I might get lost! Can you help me?’ But no one heard her. She screamed and screamed until she landed on an island. She called for help again but no one answered.

So she walked until she found a teenager. Her name was Debby. She had curly blonde hair and was eighteen years old. She was looking for something. ‘What are you looking for?’ Lilly asked. ‘My $1000 phone’, she cried. ‘Why don’t I help you to find it’, Lilly said. ‘Ok’, said Debby so they trotted off to find it.

When Lilly was skipping along she found a phone. ‘Is this your phone?’ she asked. ‘YES! It is my phone!’ Debby shouted happily. ‘Now I found your phone, can you help me to get home? I am lost on this island and I am alone.’ ‘How did you get lost?’ ‘I was playing at the beach and a big wave washed me away’. ‘So that’s how I found you?! I will call a boat to take you home’. The boat captain said it would take one day to come. Lilly said, ‘ok but where can I sleep?’ ‘On the extra mattress I have’, Debby giggled.

In the morning, Lilly heard a loud HONK! ‘Wake up! Wake up!’ she screamed. ‘What?’ yawned Debby. ‘The boat is here’. ‘Ok you can go’. So Lilly skipped along to the boat. HONK! ‘Hurry up’. So she started to run. When she got onto the boat it sailed along until…

CRASH! The boat hit a big rock. ‘Get on top of the boat’, the driver screamed. So they shivered up there. ‘Call for help’, Lilly screamed. So the driver called Debby. ‘I’m on my way!’ Debby said toughly. She drove her car as fast as she could to save them. ‘Hurry up!’ they shouted. ‘We’re sinking!’ ‘I’m almost there’, she said in a worried voice. The driver and Lilly jumped to safety. ‘Can you take me to the beach now?’ ‘I can’t because the engine has died’. ‘Oh’ said Lilly.

‘I think I can hear a whale’. They waved their arms from side to side. The whale saw them and he noticed that the engine wouldn’t start. So it pushed the car to the beach. Lilly was so happy!

THE HUMAN STEALER- Written and Illustrated by Sam

There were two friends named Sam and Jin. They were in a dungeon. It was really dark. There was something very mysterious ahead of them but they didn’t know what it was. So Sam and Jin followed the mysterious shape.

When it stopped, they found out it was a….. squirrel. But it led them to a room that had different rooms. There were two rooms. One said ‘Do Not Enter’. The other said ‘Beware’. Sam and Jin went through the door that said ‘Do Not Enter’.

When they went in, an alien grabbed Jin and took him away. Sam tried to get him but he couldn’t. So Sam looked for the alien’s lab everywhere. Sam looked in Africa, Australia, Greenland, Canada and England.

Finally, Sam found his lab in Antarctica. Sam went in. There were guards charging at him. Sam smashed everything and he killed all the bad guys. Then he spied on the boss. But a bunch of baddies were behind Sam, trying to kill him. Sam punched and kicked all of them. Then the boss saw him.

Suddenly, Sam saw Jin trapped in a force field. But the boss was already standing in front of Sam. Sam found a gun on the ground that one of the guards used and shot the boss in the head. Then he ran past him and found a computer. So he cancelled the device that was holding Jin. Jin fell and Sam saved the day!

THE GIRL AT THE PARTY- Written and Illustrated by Eliza

Yes! Summertime- a wonderful season! I jumped out of bed, hopping outside to see all of the flowers were out! It was a terrific day so my family went to the park and had a picnic where my favourite flying fox was.

Then we went to Nan’s house. We were just about to get into the pool but we couldn’t because there were bugs and bees and other nasty creatures in it. ‘Why? Why?’ I said in my head. My Pop, an old man, had to clean it! So he came home from work to clean it but he said it would take an hour. ‘An hour? Really? Why?’ While we waited for the pool to be cleaned, we went to the milkbar. ‘When you get back the pool will be ready!’ said Pop. We got home and got ready for a BBQ. ‘After the BBQ we will hop in the pool’, said my Nan. When we finally got in the pool it was worth it. We splashed, jumped and had fun!

The next morning we were getting ready for my birthday party. When we arrived at Busy Kids, I asked, ‘where is everyone?’ ‘Well I don’t know. Let’s go and look outside’, said Mum. ‘Surprise’ shouted everyone who were waiting for me out the back. We had the best time at the party playing games, eating food and riding bikes.

At midnight, I was sleeping until I woke up to the sound of a door opening. ‘ARGH! There’s a ghost!’ But it was just my dad. ‘Dad, why did you do that?’ I asked. ‘Because I wanted to scare you!’ said Dad. ‘Now go back to bed’.

THE LOST HAT- Written and Illustrated by Amy

Lilly was a new kid at school. As she went into the class people yelled, ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY!’ Her friends went to the school before she did. Their names are Bella, Anna and Emma. Bella has short black hair and she is seven years old. Anna has blonde hair and she likes wearing her necklace to school. Emma is really great because she shares her toys. They are all very friendly.

‘It’s home time’ the teacher yelled but Lilly stayed in to ask if she needed to pay for the excursion. Lilly’s dad Jack said, ‘how was the new school?’ ‘It was great’ said Lilly happily.

The next day at school Lilly was crying. ‘WAAAA!’ ‘What’s wrong?’ ‘Lilly is sad because she lost her new hat’.

The next day, Lilly woke up extra early. Lilly’s Mum Sarah asked, ‘why are you awake?’ ‘I woke up because it’s the day of the excursion’. ‘Right. Off you go now’ said Mum. Lilly was really worried about her hat. ‘Bye Mum’, she said as she walked out of the door. As she was putting her shoes on she saw her hat. Suddenly the wind blew the hat away. The wind was so strong that it nearly blew her away too.

She walked to school and saw her friend Bella. As they walked to school together they were talking about Lilly’s hat. Bella said, ‘I loved your hat. I loved the beautiful flowers it had on it’.

When Lilly was at school, her Aunty Izabell was at her house watering the garden in the sun. The hat flew down from a tree and landed on top of Aunty Izabell’s hat. The weather suddenly changed and it was about to rain so Aunty ran inside. When she took her hat off, she saw Lilly’s hat. ‘Why is Lilly’s hat here?’ She went to Lilly’s house. ‘Thank you’ said Lilly’s mum.

When Lilly got home she opened the door and saw her aunty. ‘What are you doing here? And what’s in your hand?’ Aunty Izabell shower her the hat. ‘It’s my hat!’ Lilly shouted with excitement. Everyone celebrated about the hat. Everyone had a hat on and danced!

THE OCEAN SQUIDS- Written and Illustrated by Romana

Splish! Splish! Splish! John the squid spat at a human girl called Ella. So Ella got out of the water. John was yellow and 30 years old.

Then, another bad squid called Pirate came along. ‘Oh No! What will I do? I’m in danger! ARGH!’ screamed Ella. Three boys saw that Ella was in danger and went to save her.

But the boys were tricked by Ella. She wasn’t really in danger. She was helping the bad squids get the boys! When the boys came to save her, the squids ate two of the boys! The other boy, got a knife and killed the squids!

THE BEAR AND THE ALIEN- Written and Illustrated by Duaa

‘Oh no! I’m lost in the woods’, I said to myself. I found a secret door behind a bush. ‘Maybe I will go inside’ so I did.

I saw an alien sleeping in the doorway. The alien was green with one eye. It was so weird, I wondered how the alien got there. I went back out of the secret door but there was a bear waiting for me.

I screamed so much and I ran and ran. ‘ARGH! Help! Help! Help!’ I fell down in the mud but luckily the bear didn’t see me. So I got up and I went back home.

THE GOOD VAMPIRE- Written and Illustrated by Izabella

Emily smiled at Evan. She saw him everywhere. Every time she looked at him she saw love hearts around his face. She thought that his clothes and everything about him were cool. So she went up to him, said hi and then walked away.

As she was walking away, a car hit her. Evan ran so fast and held her. She was awake enough to hear him ask, ‘will you go out with me?’ ‘Yes!’ Emily screamed with happiness. ‘Do you want to come to my place?’ Evan asked. ‘Ok’ she said and they went to Evan’s house.

She was shaking as she entered his house. Evan’s family saw her and wanted to eat her. Evan yelled, ‘no! We are going out together’.

While Emily was at Evan’s house, three vampires, Lexy, Sam and Harun were hunting her parents down. Her parents were looking for Emily but they got caught and were made to tell the three vampires where Emily was. Because they didn’t know where Emily was, the vampires bit them and they turned into vampires too!

The next morning, Lexy, Sam and Harun started hunting Emily down. Emily found her vampire parents and started to cry. She went to Evan and asked what happened to her parents. Evan had an ability to know what other vampires were thinking, and what they had done. But he said ‘I forgot’. Emily didn’t understand because she knew Evan had a special power.

Suddenly, Sam jumped out and bit Emily on the neck. Evan sucked her blood to save her from becoming a vampire. It was too late.

THE SURPRISE PARTY- Written and Illustrated by Nawal

‘I am so bored!’ said Sam. ‘What’s the matter?’ asked Billy. ‘Well, on Sundays we usually get to go to Fun Fields and play with our family but my Mum is too sick to go today. Now who am I going to play with?’

‘Maybe you can play with me. I have a great idea. Do you know that it is your Mum’s birthday?’ asked Billy. ‘I forgot. Silly me. We better make decorations and a cake now. We better be fast before she wakes up’.

The boys made some decorations and put them up on the windows. They baked a vanilla cake just in time. The boys heard Sam’s Mum getting out of bed, so they hid under the table in Sam’s room. Sam’s Mum walked around the house and asked ‘where is everyone? Nobody is here!’

When she went into Sam’s room, Sam and Billy jumped out and shouted ‘SURPRISE!’ as loud as they could. ‘Happy Birthday Mum. I love you!’ Mum replied, ‘I love you too’. Then Mum tasted the cake but the boys could tell that she didn’t like it. She LOVED IT!

THE LOST CITY- Written and Illustrated by Anwar

Once there was a lost city, surrounded by deadly dragons who liked DNA and raw meat! ROAR!

Sam and Jin, popped out of nowhere to take over the city! The dragon got angry seeing the two boys in their city.

Boom! Sam fired a bazooka at two of the biggest dragons. The fight was over. The boys sat around the fire.

The two biggest dragons came back alive. ‘Not cool, not cool’ said Sam. Suddenly a jet flew above them out of nowhere. The dragon took down the jet. BOOM! 41 people died.

THE BEACH- Written and Illustrated by Bihi

One day, all of the water at the beach dried up into the ground. A shark was swimming in the water when it started to dry up, so it jumped into the sky and landed on the sand.

A man was sleeping on the beach until he was woken up by a shark falling on top of him! The shark ate the man up!

Then an emu came from the bush near the beach. He saw a fish lying on the dry sand and so he ate it.

A strong guy came from another country with a mouth full of water. He spat the water out onto the sand which filled the beach up again and the county was safe.

THE UNIVERSE- Written and Illustrated by Ahura

When I got to school, I noticed it had been closed down. I didn’t know what was going on. I saw my good friend, Sam. We saw a dungeon opening in the grass of the big oval. We hadn’t noticed it before because there are usually lots of kids around.

We decided to go into the dungeon but before we did, we got a helmet, torch, sword, bow and arrow. When we got into the dungeon, we saw a fire. I put the torch into the fire so we could get some light but danger struck!

ARGH! The dungeon was filled with zombies. I picked up the bow and arrow while Sam ran away. I fought the zombies until I ran out of arrows. My sword was broken from killing so many zombies so I ran towards Sam. We cried.

Then the boss of the zombies saw us so we got up and kept running. More and more zombies came. Luckily we found Miss Brookman who said she would fight with us. We found some more bow and arrows and two swords. I got the bow and arrows and Sam and Miss Brookman got the swords.

We fought the zombie boss and the other zombies. Even more zombies came and we were getting very tired. Luckily I had half of the arrows left. We recognised that the zombies left weren’t powerful, except for the zombie boss. I shot the zombie boss in the face, and he was dead for good.

We killed the others until there was only one left. The one that was left was very, very powerful. He summoned even more powerful zombies to come and join him. I only had one more arrow so we couldn’t resist the zombies anymore.

So we ran and ran and ran until we found ten pathways. Five of the pathways said ‘Do Not Enter’ but one was open. When we entered, we saw skulls, blood and violent stuff. We saw some people fighting, so we hid to stop from being killed.

I found a nuke but I had no idea where it came from. I threw it. BOOOM! We were safe and we won.

The boys pushed the girls. So the girls fell down the hill.

The police came and put the boys in jail. The boys’ dad went to jail to pick the boys up.

He said, ‘you have to stay with me’.
THE FARTING DRAGON VS THE SMART DINOSAUR- Written and Illustrated by Jin

Once in the woods, there lived a dragon named Farting Dragon. He was crazy, he loved to eat ice-cream, watch TV all day and shoot fire. His name was given to him because he liked to eat beans!

Smart Dinosaur was Farting Dragon’s enemy. Smart Dinosaur didn’t know how to spell words but he knew magic.

One day, Smart Dinosaur went to Farting Dragon’s house to get back at him for laughing at him because he couldn’t spell. Farting Dragon didn’t notice Smart Dinosaur because he was green and the last time Farting Dragon saw him, he was purple.

When Farting Dragon was sleeping, Smart Dinosaur threw a magic potion onto him that woke him up. Farting Dragon was so scared, he blew fire everywhere. The fire hit Smart Dinosaur in the face which made him angry.

Smart Dinosaur used his sharp spines to attack. Farting Dragon used his horn to push him out of the door. Then Smart Dinosaur ran so fast into the door, that he destroyed the house.

A legendary golden bird flew down to make peace and fix the house.
